Survival Training Pools
Did you know that Murphy’s Waves are renowned world leaders in the specialist field of wave generation for the survival training pool industry? We have been serving this growing market for 25 years.
Our “Tempest Wave System” has been cleverly designed to recreate conditions at sea. It is used as a survival training aid for off shore workers, the armed forces and Air & Sea rescue teams.
The “Tempest” survival wave generators can found in specialist training centres through the UK and Ireland, South America, The Emirates and China.
These specialist survival wave pools are designed to produce sustainable waves throughout a deep pool. The unique design of the survival training pool means it is suitable for use with H.U.E.T as well as inflatable life boats and assault crafts.
What makes wave generation for survival pools different to a standard pool ?
The Tempest survival wave generator range is designed to create a variety of realistic sea conditions within a control environment. This unique system is capable of producing waves between 500mm to 1800mm high, all of which can be controlled from a remote panel. This allows the operator to alter not only the wave height, but the wave formation at the flick of a switch!
Special wave absorption chambers have been designed to ensure accurate repeatability of any wave formation, Thus making any survival training exercises the same for each group of users.
This specialist equipment has been refined over the last 25 years to offer unrivalled performance both in terms of wave characteristics and long term reliability.
What about special effects?
Our team in house designers have created a range of special effects to compliment the Tempest wave system and give the most realistic training environment within a survival training pool.
The range of special effects include :
Thunder and Lightning
This comprises of a special lighting unit programmed to give realistic flashes of lightning along with an automated thunder sound track to trigger at the correct time in relation to the lightning flashes. Control of this system is through the main control panel with options to run in sequence or on demand by the operator.
Gale Force Wind
Two gale force wind generators are located at one end of the pool. These are fixed in a position that generates a strong wind across the entire surface of the pool. This function can be operated alone or as part of an automated special effects sequence.
Torrential Rain System
The rain is directed onto the pool surface from an overhead manifold system with special high flow nozzles, in some cases two manifolds can be incorporated to enable the severity of the rain fall to be controlled. Generally the water supply for the rain is drawn from the return line of the pool filtration system and delivered via a booster pump. As with the other special effects the rain system can be used alone or as part of an automated special effects sequence.
With these features , it is possible to recreate storm conditions at sea. The operator can vary the special effects to suit the training exercise or abilities of the participants involved.
The additional special effects feature provides the best possible training conditions and focuses heavily on the importance of safety in the offshore industry, air/sea rescue, and the military.
